The Mt Prospect District Tennis Association was formed on the 16th of December, 1924. In those days, the clubs played on hard courts throughout the district. Clubs that played in the association then included Smeaton, Ullina, Dean, Mollonghipp, St Augustines, Newlyn, Lawrence, Mt Prospect and Kingston. In 1966 the grass courts were completed, with hard courts added in the next 5 years or so. Since then, further hard courts have been added. A clubhouse was also erected in 1972 and since then renovations and extensions have been undertaken on the clubhouse.

The mission or purpose of the Tennis Association is “to enable all ages and abilities to participate in a relaxed family atmosphere, at a picturesque venue featuring grass and other playing surfaces.”

The Association is located in Creswick which is about a 15 minute drive from Ballarat. It currently has 16 Grass courts and 13 Rebound ace courts for a total of 29. The Association has four competitions that run across summer. These include a Junior Pennant (Saturday Morning), a Senior Pennant (Saturday Afternoon), a Midweek ladies competition (Wednesday Morning and Afternoon) and a Twilight Corporate Challenge on a Wednesday evening. A Hot Shots introductory program (Saturday morning) and a Social Play program (Tuesday evening) also operate across summer.  Between these comeptitions and programs, the Association has a total of around 450 members.

The association operates in a non-competitive environment in terms of other sporting associations within the Creswick area, because everyone is working together to achieve the best outcome for all.
