Season 2022 23

Season 2022 / 2023 President's report.

As another highly successful season for our small but passionate tennis club draws to a close, I would once again like to thank our dedicated committee for all their efforts throughout the season in ensuring the club progresses forward for the next season.

Our current and past committees would like to pay tribute and express our appreciation to our current treasurer Beverly Pead for her significant contribution to the club over a long period of service. Over a period of almost ten years Bev has served the club starting with the role of secretary then moving on to registrations, uniforms and treasurer. With her family no longer playing tennis, Bev will retire from all committee duties at the end of the season and plans a move to Queensland in the near future. We wish Bev all the best on her retirement from tennis.

The committee would also like to acknowledge Tanya Graham for her fund raising efforts and contribution to the club over the past six months.

Our club was strongly represented in the Latrobe Valley Tennis Associations junior competition this season with a total of eleven teams in all of the nine junior sections. In an amazing effort ten of our teams made the semi finals, with sections four, five, six, eight & nine progressing through to the grand final, which is a great result for our club. Well done to Danielle, Will and Jack of section six and Annika, Grace, Paygen -Lily and Spencer of section eight on becoming LVTA junior premiers this season.

A big thank you to Scotty Mildenhall for once again looking after the Saturday morning junior competition for the home teams playing at the club. Scotty did his best to ensure things ran as smoothly as possible during the day, especially in the chaotic opening few rounds of the season, with new teams, players and parents finding their way.

Also a big thank you to Sally & Glen Kirstine Tennis Academy and assistant coaches for their ongoing dedication to our junior players through weekly clinics, as these players progress through the ranks in representing our club in the LVTA.

With our senior players, our singles combination of Scotty Mildenhall and Matt Stringer playing in team Rosewall are to be congratulated for winning a tightly fought LVTA senior grand final by one set.

The club is looking forward to a successful 2023/2024 season both on and off the court and will certainly be relieved that after eight years, to have finally paid off the council loan for the court resurfacing by the end of 2024.
