Season 2020 21

Once again Pax Hill Tennis Clubs small but dedicated committee and members have achieved a great deal this season, as we adapted to functioning and playing in a pandemic and communicating via zoom meetings. Thank you and well done to everyone for their efforts in keeping our small passionate club in good shape for the upcoming season.

Pax Hill was strongly represented in the Latrobe Valley Tennis Associations junior competition this season with teams in seven of the nine sections on offer. Well done to all of our junior teams that played in the LVTA's finals series. We had five teams in sections 2, 3, 7 (x2) & 8 make the semi finals, with section 3, 7 and 8 teams progressing to the grand final, which is a great result for our club. Even though there was some well contested, close games on the day, unfortunately the club had no premiers this season.

A big thank you to Scott Mildenhall for stepping up and taking on the role of overseeing the Saturday morning junior competition at the club. Having someone there at home games on the morning of play to make sure things run smoothly, reflects the committee's commitment to our tennis club's juniors.

Also a big thank you to Sally & Glenn Kirstine Tennis Academy and assistant coaches for their ongoing dedication to our junior players as they progress through the ranks in representing our club in the LVTA.

Our two senior teams had an up and down season finishing 8th and 9th respectively.

Even though fund raising was very much limited for the season, we were still fortunate to receive a number of small grants. These grants helped the club to progress forward with facility improvements and benefits for members.

Ten solar panels and inverter have been installed on our clubrooms financed by a Latrobe City minor capital works grant, which should halve our annual electricity bill. A uniform grant saw the purchase of new tops in our traditional red colour for those playing competition, as well as a choice of a red or black club hoodie for the cooler days.

We look forward to a successful 2021 / 2022 season both on and off the court, as both junior and senior tennis in the local area resumes and grows to pre pandemic levels.
