Hendry has been an irreplaceable part of our club since its inception. There is little that goes on at Out Tennis that he does not have a hand in, and as one of our founding members, Hendry has been incessantly making things happen behind the scenes and driving our club forward. Social events, road trips all over the state, tournaments big and small, and the weekly hit and giggle; most of these events have Hendry’s fingerprints all over them, and that’s just the fun stuff. Hendry has also spent countless hours filling in forms for funding, liaising with potential business sponsors and managing the club’s legal obligations and finances.

Hendry has also been instrumental in the cultivation of the club’s culture and consistently works to make it as safe and welcoming a place as possible for anyone to pick up a racket and have a go, but especially for those people who are not safe playing in mainstream clubs. It’s no wonder that Hendry won Volunteer of the Year from Tennis Tasmania and was the national finalist for Tennis Australia’s and Pride in Sport’s Volunteer of the year. Accolades that are thoroughly deserved and earned by more than half a decade of tireless work.

It is a great honour to enshrine Hendry Lukman as a life member of the Hobart Out Tennis Club. This club would be unrecognisable without you.
