Weston Creek Tennis Club Member, Millie Hanson enjoys a challenge. So when she became aware of the Ronald McDonald 24-hour Cardio Tennis Fund Raiser, she was all in. Not content to do just a few hours, Millie decided she would do all 24 sessions and opened a Go Fund Me Page to see just how much she could raise by hitting tennis balls for a full day.
I caught up with Millie for the 10pm session on the Friday night. After six hours she was still running with enthusiasm and blasting balls from all over the court. I saw her again at midday on the Saturday. She was looking great but said her feet were starting to complain very loudly.
Incredibly she completed the marathon stint at 4pm that afternoon, still in great spirits, and buoyed by the realisation she had raised a massive $2292.
Millie would like to thank all those who jumped online and supported her effort. She would also like to thank the many players who were there and helped her through the tough pre-dawn sessions. A special shoutout goes to Pax who was amazing through the last few hours and to Calie Karmichael who did 12hours and was great company throughout the night.
Millie now realises she needs a good six-hour warmup to play her best tennis and will long remember the 4am crazy session that kept everyone pumping.
In all, the 24-Hour Cardio Challenge raised over $15000 for Ronald McDonald House, a wonderful charity that provides support for sick kids and their families. Congratulations and thank you to all who took part and we look forward to your continued support in 2026. Millie has set a wonderful benchmark that will be difficult to beat.
