What Team Brisbane Tennis stands for
Following the success of the GLTA 2023 Masters Series tennis tournament and the Brisbane Open 2024, we are now in the planning phase for the Brisbane Open 2025. This event, sanctioned by the GLTA, promises to be bigger and better than ever, continuing to solidify its place as one of the premier competitions on the GLTA calendar in Australia.
In recent years, Team Brisbane Tennis (TBT) has grown steadily, with increasing registrations for our events reflecting our commitment to creating vibrant, inclusive, and competitive tennis experiences.
A New Digital Home: www.tbt.org.au
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new website, www.tbt.org.au. This will now be the primary go-to for all TBT members, providing essential information about events, memberships, policies, and much more. We encourage all members and tennis enthusiasts to explore the site and discover everything TBT has to offer.
Our Club’s Foundations
Team Brisbane Tennis has proudly served the community for almost two decades. In 2018, the TBT Committee made the decision to formally incorporate the club under the Queensland Associations Incorporations Act 1981. Since 2019, we have operated as an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to organising tennis socials and events across Brisbane, nationally, and internationally.
While our primary focus is on organising tennis activities for the LGBTQIA+ community, everyone is welcome to join and participate in our inclusive programs.
Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming space where players can truly be themselves while enjoying the camaraderie and excitement of tennis, whether for social or competitive play.
What We Do
We currently run social tennis sessions at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson. For more information, visit our Social Tennis page on the new website.
Our flagship event, the Brisbane Open, is a GLTA-sanctioned tournament that continues to grow in size and reputation. With the 2024 tournament behind us, we are now focused on the Brisbane Open 2025. Be sure to check the News & Events page on our website for updates about this and other exciting competitions in the pipeline.
Embracing Innovation
At TBT, we embrace technology and best practices to serve our members better. Since January 2023, we’ve operated entirely cashless, with seamless payment gateways managing bookings and payments for social and competitive tennis.
We have also refined our operational processes to ensure tasks are efficiently distributed among committee members, so no individual is overburdened.
Our Commitment
The TBT Committee remains steadfast in its mission to foster LGBTQIA+ community engagement through tennis. By promoting inclusion, acceptance, and a safe social space, we aim to build a strong sense of belonging within our community.
As an affiliate of Tennis Queensland, we adhere to Tennis Australia’s national policies and support vital initiatives such as the Transgender Inclusion Guidelines for Community Tennis. You can access these and other key documents on the Governance page of our website.
