WDTA Night Tennis

Night teams play on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, with a mix of mens, ladies and mixed competitions competing in the Waverley District Tennis Association  (WDTA) region and the Knox District Night Tennis Association competitions.

Competition is played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights starting at 7:30 pm.

Where would I play?

The competition is home and away with clubs located throughout the South-Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, mostly within the City of Monash and surrounding municipalities, eg. Whitehorse, Knox and Stonnington.

What formats are offered?

Ladies/Mens/Mixed Doubles – 4 players in a team in any one week, each player plays 3 doubles sets (first to 6 games with a 2 game advantage, tiebreak at 6 all). Ladies doubles offered on a Monday night. Mens doubles offered Monday and Tuesday nights. Mixed doubles offered Wednesday nights.

Open Singles Doubles – 3 people in a team in any one week. Each player plays 2 doubles sets (first to 6 games with a 2 game advantage, tiebreak at 6 all) and one singles set (first to 6 games with a 2 game advantage, tiebreak at 6 all). Open Singles/Doubles competition is offered on Tuesday nights.

Open Singles – 2 people in a team in any one week. Each player plays a singles rubber (2 sets, the third set is played as a match, first to 10 points, tiebreaker) and a singles set (first to 6 games with a 2 game advantage, tiebreak at 6 all).

How much does it cost?

All players need to be financial members of the Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club.

Additional costs for night tennis include light money. Light money fees are set by the competition association and are currently $8 per person per week for doubles, $9 per person per week for singles/doubles and $10 per person per week for singles competition. This is payable on the night at the venue where matches are played.
