The Western Region Tennis Association (also known as 'WRTA') was formed in 1978 - with the merger of 2 local tennis associations. Since then, it has continued to grow with clubs from local councils such as Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Wyndham, Brimbank - and more recently Melton and Bacchus Marsh. The WRTA now covers a large geographical area - west and south of Melbourne.
The WRTA primary purpose is to offer and administer tennis competitions for senior & juniors players on the weekend.
Currently, 2 seasons of competitions are available:
- Summer Season. Starts in October and finishes March of the following year.
- Winter Season. Starts in April and finishes September.
The Junior Competition generally has 38 sections (split over Saturday and Sunday mornings) while the Senior Competition generally has 10 sections (played on Saturday afternoons).
The Association is governed by the 'Constitution' while the Competitions are run in accordance with the 'Bylaws - also known as 'Competition Rules' . See the submenu options for all details.
