The South Camberwell Tennis Club has excellent modern facilities, which are well maintained by the club.

Recent Upgrades

We are constantly looking to improve our courts to satisfy the demands of tennis enthusiasts.

• Clubhouse refurbishment in 2011, funded by Boroondara Council.
• Replaced en tous cas courts with a modern sand-filled artificial grass surface, funded entirely by club savings and a small debenture raising from Committee members.
• We replaced our metal halide court lights in 2019 with advanced LED arrays, doubling the illumination factor and dramatically lowering our energy costs.  A venture supported by a Sports Australia Grant.

Sustainability Matters

With all these upgrades, we have dramatically reduced our impact on the environment and demand for fossil fuel-based energy sources.

• Our water consumption is less than an average household. With the older clay court surfaces large amounts of pure, clean water were misdirected.  The new sand-fill artificial grass courts do not require regular dampening.
• The Club has a large rainwater storage tank for gardens/watering (non-drinking purposes).
• The electricity cost of the LED court lights is now less than a standard household.
• All clubhouse lighting is modern low energy, log lasting,  LED technology.
