Our Facilities

KTC has four sand-filled artificial grass courts (with LED lights for night-tennis) and a clubhouse with toilet facilities and a small kitchen area.  Maintenance is a significant expense for the Club so we do as much as we can ourselves.  Regular "working bees" are organised to keep the grounds tidy and the courts in good condition.  All members welcome!  If you think you can help with anything, please contact the Club's Maintenance Officer.

Court Maintenance

To keep the courts in good condition so we get the longest possible life from them, all court users should read the Court Maintenance Manual.

All users of our courts must groom the courts with the Aussie Clean Sweepers when they have finished play. This is one way to keep the courts in good condition and it is a courtesy to your fellow members who will be using the courts after you.

LED lights for the courts

In mid-2021 we were awarded a grant as part of the ACT Government's Capital Assistance Programme to replace our old court lights with an LED system.  We also received help from Tennis Australia and our club President with the necessary electrical upgrades.  The LED lights are a huge improvement and we are very grateful to all involved!

New Floor, Fence and court refurbishment 2021/22

In mid-2021 we were awarded a second Stronger Communities  grant.  This allowed us to replace the old floor surface in the clubhouse and replace the wooden fence around the clubhouse area with a metal fence.  Additionally, the grant included money to refurbish the courts by brushing the  fibres and topping-up the sand.

Kitchen and Toilet renovations 2020

In late 2019 we were successful in winning a grant from the Australian Government's Stronger Communities programme that allowed us to refurbish the kitchenette and toilets in the clubhouse.  We also received a very generous quote from a local plumbing business for the work.  If you have any plumbing needs in Canberra, we thoroughly recommend you talk to Chris at Bluechip Plumbing & Maintenance: T: 0499832862; E: bluechip42@gmail.com.

As part of the refurbishments, a few members painted all the timber inside and outside the club.  A big thank you to those involved.

Court Resurfacing 2017

Thanks to a grant from Active Canberra, we were able to replace the badly worn courts 1 and 3 in March 2017. There are some pictures here.

Court Resurfacing 2010

Thanks to the ACT Government's Sport and Recreation Grant Program, we were able to replace courts 2 and 4 in November 2010.

Fundraising

Kambah Tennis Club is a non-profit organisation but we are required to collect fees and raise funds through other activities to pay for the operation and maintenance of the existing facilities.  We also need to raise funds to pay for any new facilities and major works such as court resurfacing.  Members are encouraged to help out, and if you've got an idea for fundraising or would like to help with any future activities, please contact the committee.
