Competitions

Our tennis club enters teams in the NENTG (North Eastern Night Tennis Group) Autumn and Spring seasons, Tuesday Nights Mens and Vets, Wednesday Nights Womens, and Thursday nights Mixed Nights competitions commencing at 7.00pm.       There are 4 players in each team, each player playing 3 sets (first to 6 games),  and currently the club has teams in the highest section particularly in the women's teams.      Our Section 1 Womens teams have the best players in the District and have won the Section 1 title consecutively for the last 6 seasons, together with  Section 2 & now Section 6 teams (having won Section 7 in Spring, 2024 together with winning Section 9 in Autumn, 2024).    We are keen to introduce new players into these teams when the opportunity arises.   The club also has teams in Mens Section 10 who finished on top of the ladder but lost the semi-final to Mill Park who eventaully won Section 10, and a new team in Mens Section 11 in Autumn, 2025 and a Mixed Section 3 who were Runners-Up in Mixed Section 5 in the Spring, 2024 season.

The club also fields teams in the Eastern Region Saturday afternoon Singles/Doubles on Saturday afternoons during the Summer and Winter Seasons (we entered teams in the Winter Season before we entered teams in TV Winter Pennant so it may be unlikely).     These teams also have 4 players who play doubles first to 6 games with a tie-breaker at 6 games all, and Singles best of 2 sets (normal tie-breaker at 6 games all) with a  super tie-breaker at 1 set all using 4 courts when the Singles start if available.    Our number of teams in this competition vary when TV Winter Pennant starts, and we have currently teams in Singles/Doubles Sections 4. and 2 teams Blue and Green in Section 7 in Summer 2024/25.

We entered 2 Men's teams Sections 10 & 11 in the 2024 TV Winter Pennant competition on Saturday afternoons which has a similar format to Eastern Region.      We have fielded teams in this  Premier Metropolitan competition since 1992 (except for the Covid disruption), and have won mulitple flags  in  Mens Veterans and Open Women Doubles together with multiple winners of Player of the Year Awards.       In the past in Open Grades of Pennant we have finished Runners-Up in Women's Grade 4, and often reached Womens Semi-Finals in Grade 2 and 3.    We are also keen to reestablish Women's Open teams on a Saturday morning or afternoon in Winter if enough players are interested.    We also won Veteran's Grade 2 twice, and were Runners-Up four times, and winning Open Doubles Women's twice and Runners-Up three times in the past.

Other opportunities to enter teams in Metro Masters TA (over 50 years old) are available if 4 or 5 players can play in 3 sets (first to 8 games) with a tie-breaker at 7 games all on a Thursday afternoon commencing at 1.00pm during Autumn and Spring.   These teams require at least 6 players who play 4 or 5 players every week in 6 sets first to 8 games with a tiebreaker at 7 games all.      The club has won Section 1 once, and Section 2 twice in the past in this competition.
