EAST PRESTON PARK TENNIS CLUB

Welcome to the East Preston Park Tennis Club - we are situtated at T.A. Cochrane Reserve, Preston.      We are the third oldest tennis club in Darebin, and the club was formed in 1935 shortly after the depression - this makes us 85 years old.

Whilst we are located behind the Preston South Primary School the club is actually an amalgation of two tennis clubs East Preston and Bell Park when we were located on the corner of Bell and Patterson Streets, Preston.    Bell Street was widened in 1981 and with finance from the Country Roads Board and the council we moved to our current location in Collier Street, Preston.     The club is proud of its competition history and has flags in more competitions than any other Darebin tennis club, and can be viewed in the club-house with many black and white, colour photos and flags displayed.

The club has multiple player of the year awards in the premier TV Winter Pennant metropolitan competitions.     The courts are located in a picturesque setting with the adjoining children's playground and dog walking park.

The club welcomes new members with low annual membership fees and the courts are located in Collier Street, Preston, Melways reference: 30-H2.

We are the only Darebin based tennis club to have all en-tout-cas courts (clay courts) - 4 in total with the two courts nearest the club-house being lit by old style metal halide lights, and the two nearest the car park being lit by LED lights which were installed jointly by a grant from the Darebin Council and the tennis club.      These courts are maintained by volunteers at the club, and are close to being 40 years old, and are still in top condition.       The courts are ideal for older players being user friendly on knees and ankles.
