Inclusion, Diversity & Access

East Malvern Tennis Club is committed to being a welcoming, safe, and inclusive club for all. We proudly support Tennis Victoria’s Inclusion Strategy and the City of Stonnington’s Fair Access Plan, ensuring our facilities, programs, and governance reflect equity, diversity, and accessibility.

We believe tennis is for everyone and are actively working to make sure every member of our community has the opportunity to participate, belong, and thrive at our club.

Our Commitments

Inclusive Club Culture
We are guided by Tennis Victoria’s Inclusion Strategy and by the City of Stonnington’s Fair Access Plan, which ensures equal opportunity for all community members in local sport and recreation.

Continuous Improvement
With support from the City of Stonnington, we are currently completing a Gender Equality Survey. We encourage you to help us by completing the survey: Survey Link

Once we have feedback from members, the committee will form a Gender Equity Action Plan based on the results. Please watch this space for updates, as we will periodically report on our progress against Tennis Victoria’s inclusion indicators and Stonnington’s Fair Access Plan, sharing updates with members through newsletters and this page.

Access to Facilities

Parking: Accessible car parking spaces are available adjacent to the clubhouse. Please note our car park is not a smooth surface and there are some patches of uneven ground.

Courts: Some of our courts are only accessible via stairs, but courts 7-10 are accessible with a small step onto the courts. We are working with Stonnington on redevelopment plans to improve accessibility.

Clubhouse: Access to our clubhouse is via a ramp and then a small step inside. We are working with Stonnington on redevelopment plans to improve accessibility.

Communication
We are committed to ensuring all members can access information easily. Our emails and newsletters are written in clear language and standard font sizes.

Inclusive Programs & Events
We are proud to offer programs that welcome people of all abilities, including Blind & Low Vision match play and other adaptive tennis activities. Moving forward, we will expand inclusive and adaptive programs in partnership with Tennis Victoria, community organisations, and the City of Stonnington.

Leadership & Accountability
Our committee recognises its responsibility to lead by example. We are committed to embedding inclusion into all decision-making and program planning, and to upholding our role as a community club that is safe, equitable, and welcoming to all.

Previous Events

Our club has proudly hosted a number of Blind & Low Vision coaching, match play, and social tennis events, providing opportunities for participation, connection, and fun. These initiatives have been made possible through the support of Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria, Tennis Victoria, City of Stonnington, and Sport4All.
