Club History

BNTC History of Office Bearers

BNTC History of Club Champions from 1950

For more than ninety years, Bayswater North Tennis Club has been more than a place to play. It has been a meeting point. A second home. A collection of stories written in early mornings, long rallies and quiet moments after the last ball is hit.

Built and sustained by volunteers, our club has grown through generations of families who believed that tennis brings people together. Mothers and daughters. Husbands and wives. Juniors who grow into seniors and then return to cheer from the sidelines. Every fence post, every court line and every improvement reflects the care of people who chose to give back.

We are proudly independent and community run. Decisions are made around tables, not boardrooms. Every effort is guided by one goal, to protect the heart of the club while building a future that allows the next generation to fall in love with the game just as deeply as those before them.

This is not just a club with history. It is a club still being written, one season at a time.

COMMITTEE AND CLUB LEADERSHIP

Behind every match played and every light switched on is a group of people quietly holding the club together.

Our committee members are volunteers who give their time, energy and care to ensure the club continues to thrive. They organise competitions, manage facilities, run fundraisers and make decisions that shape the future of Bayswater North Tennis Club.

They are not here for recognition. They are here because this place matters.

Their leadership is steady, their commitment constant and their belief in the club unwavering. Thanks to them, the gates stay open, the courts stay playable and the spirit of the club stays strong.

COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTEERS

Some of the most important work at Bayswater North Tennis Club happens far from the baseline.

It happens at dawn when volunteers unlock the gates. It happens with paint brushes, lawn tools and shared cups of coffee. It happens behind a sizzling barbecue at Bunnings, where sausages are flipped, laughs are shared and funds are raised to keep the club moving forward.

Our regular Bunnings BBQs are more than fundraising events. They are proof of what a connected community can do when everyone pitches in. Every dollar raised supports our courts, facilities and opportunities for players of all ages.

This club runs on volunteers. And because of them, it keeps running well.

FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE

A great club takes care of its home.

Over the past year, Bayswater North Tennis Club has invested time, effort and care into improving and maintaining its facilities. New fencing has been installed after years of persistence. Courts are regularly maintained. Weeds are managed. Lines are repaired. Storage has been improved to support day‑to‑day operations.

These changes may seem quiet, but they matter. They make the club safer. Stronger. More welcoming. They ensure that when a player steps on court, they can focus on the game and not the ground beneath their feet.

Every improvement reflects the pride we take in this place.

CLUB VISION AND FUTURE DIRECTION

Looking forward matters just as much as honouring the past.

Bayswater North Tennis Club is committed to planning for the years ahead with care and intention. With challenges facing community sport across Australia, including declining volunteers and changing membership patterns, our club is focused on staying financially sound, maintaining our facilities and creating opportunities for growth.

Our vision is clear. A sustainable club. A welcoming environment. A place where competitive tennis thrives alongside community connection. A future where families continue to play together and where new members feel instantly at home.

The game will change. The seasons will turn. But the heart of the club will remain.
