Tuesday Ladies
The Tuesday mid week ladies competition (Sections 1-3) runs from 10.00am all year excluding school holidays, with social tennis being played at that time during the off season.
2025/26 Competition
At the Mid Week Association A.G. M. at Wonthaggi on 29th July the decision will be made about the next season. Many Clubs haven’t been happy with the long season, and would prefer to return to the old format of two separate seasons, so we’ve been told to discuss it with our Club members. We’ll have to wait and see. The starting date of the new comp will be made then, too.
Until then there will be Social Tennis on Tuesday mornings as well as Thursdays, starting at 9.30 from 1st July until the next Comp commences.
2024/25 Competition

Congratulations to Hayley for being awarded the prize for winning the most games for Phillip Island during the Super Season which just finished for us.
Best wishes also to Hayley who has accepted a teaching appointment at Hermannsburg near Alice Springs, for the next six months. She leaves on 10th July.
(Next Tuesday we’ll be starting at 9 to have a hit before going to watch the Grand Finals of Section 1 & 2 in Wonthaggi)
2023/24 Competition
This season finished for our Koala and Penguin teams on Tuesday, June 4th 2024when both played teams in the top four, here at Cowes. It was a long, “Super season” which commenced at the beginning of October. Because this time there were only two sections, we needed to combine our section 2 & 3 teams and make two even teams, which finished 7th and 8th on the ladder. There was a noticeable difference between the four top teams and the bottom four, with the fifth team having nearly fifty points less than the fourth, and sixty five less than the top team, Bena!
The Koalas struggled fielding a team for most of the season. An early withdrawal, plus an injury before Christmas didn’t help. Overall, we were grateful to the nearly fifteen ladies who were called on to help the side out. The Penguins were more fortunate, only having to call on a few extras as the season progressed. Despite the long season we only had three washouts, but Nyora needed to forfeit their games several times because of difficulties fielding a team. Of course we didn’t play during school holidays, so had a bit of a break during those times.
We enjoyed the tennis where most times we held our own, the lunches with our opposition, and the travel. We’ve heard that most Clubs prefer the “Super Season”, so the new one will commence at the beginning of October and conclude June next year.
In the meantime we’ll continue playing on our courts on Tuesdays and invite anyone from elsewhere to join us if they wish. We haven’t heard when the teams need to be submitted for the next season, so there’s time to think about it.
*Section 1 will be playing their Elimination final on our courts next Tuesday. Westernport finished on top of their ladder, so play Bena, while the two Inverloch teams battle out the other final.
The Section 2 finals will be at Inverloch.
This season we were able to use our new scoreboards for the first time!
