MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Firstly I would like to thank all Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club members for their patience and
understanding during these unprecedented times. Whilst I’m sure you would love to be out on the
beautiful grass courts, we are all having to follow restrictions that 12 months ago we would have
As a Committee, we are very mindful of these restrictions that are in place to keep our members and
the community safe from COVID-19. In light of this, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our
Annual General Meeting until late September. Hopefully by then the situation in Victoria and the
difficulties with crossing the border will have eased. I will provide more information closer to this time
and we will assess our options based on the restrictions that are in place.
I encourage anyone who has an interest in joining the committee to attend the AGM. In these crazy
times, our sense of community has never been stronger as we all stick together (by staying apart) to get
The Tennis Victoria website has the latest recommendations and guidance on dealing with COVID-19
for tennis players and clubs. As our peak sporting body, we rely heavily on them to interpret the
Government directions and translate it into what that means for our club. As a Committee, we have
been following this closely and implementing the directions as best we can.
The good news is the courts are open, but with restrictions. In summary:
Outdoor tennis is permitted for two people. Doubles is permitted only with people from the same
Tennis lessons are permitted with a limit of two participants, in addition to the coach.
Outdoor tennis facilities can host up to 10 patrons at a time subject to 1.5m distancing
Participants 12 years and older must wear a face covering, unless an exemption applies. If you
are doing strenuous physical exercise you do not need to wear a face covering but you must
carry one with you. Strenuous exercise can include playing tennis.
