Help for Team Captains
Keeping it social
Lunch or a cuppa after your match is encouraged but sometimes not always possible. Please connect with your opposing team captain to see what works for you and your team. Your opposing team captain's contact details can be found on Match Centre.
Print out the season program and scoresheets for each match day
Ideally we are trying to do everything electronically to reduce work for everyone. Both the program and scoresheets are readily available on Match Centre. Paper scoresheets do still play a role as they are an important back up if people can't remember scores or there is a misunderstanding. Match Centre provides score sheets with your teams names and the opposing team names. These can be printed out weekly. For guidelines on how to print out scoresheets and program, please click here.
If you are confident that there won't be too much change in the members of the team, you can ask your Club Rep to print out the score sheets for the whole season (this can only be done in League Manager).
Alternatively, you can download a completely blank score sheet .
Start time discretion
In the rules, you will see that matches should ideally commence at 9.30am (hit up time from 9.15am). Captains may arrange to commence play before 9.30am on any minor round match day, if both teams agree and are available. Any player not in attendance and ready to commence play at 9.45am shall automatically forfeit a set, if not in attendance by 10.15am, shall forfeit second set, if not in attendance by 10.45am, shall forfeit third set. Captains please communicate, be flexible and take into consideration individual circumstances if play must commence late.
Record results of matches online and on paper
Please record the results of matches promptly both online and on paper. At the end of the match, there is no need to send a photo of the paper copy of the result to the Recorder unless there is a dispute.
Should there be a dispute, please advise the Recorder.

How to handle hot/wet day conditions please refer to the extreme weather rules.
How to handle forfeit and partial score or no score?
A forfeit will be accepted in any division, however, Clubs may move a player(s) up from the divisions below to fill any vacancy. Forfeits to be strongly discouraged, and if three players are available, then play proceeds (with the position order described in 3.9 of the Competition Rules) and the opposition must be advised.
A team receiving a forfeit MUST enter the scores into Match Centre and shall be confirmed by the Opposing Team.
How to handle an injured player:
Affiliated clubs within the Mid-Week Women's Grasscourt Tennis Association are covered by Tennis Australia's Public Liability and Personal Accident insurance. Should a player injure themselves during a match, association and competition rules will apply. It is recommended that a report of the incident is made at the time of the accident. If the injury is severe a claim can be made directly to Howden via: https://www.howdengroup.com/au-en/tennis-australia.
For more information on Tennis Australia's Insurance please click the above the link to Howden.
Please note that only Tennis SA affiliated clubs/association can claim through Howden. To ensure that all requirements of Tennis Australia's insurance policy are met, individual members are to be registered in their club's membership database.
