Green Ball
Green Ball Tennis is the final phase of junior development pathways before transitioning to regular tennis. The balls have a customised weight and bounce to accommodate developing skills and abilities. We encourage juniors to play in this competition for several seasons as this results in better long term skills and play.
Green Ball tennis is played on a full sized court, with nets at normal height. The scoring is a "sudden death deuce" system should it be required, with the winner being the first to 6-game sets with no tie-breaks.
The team plays x4 single sets (1 per player) and x2 double sets.
All Green Ball games are umpired - with the children being encouraged to umpire their own and score games but umpires monitor this. Wherever possible parents are not to umpire their child's game. Umpires are encouraged to overrule and gently educate children consistently making poor calls and encourage good sportsmanship.
