Museum
The Darling Downs Museum of Tennis is located within the Toowoomba Tennis Association clubhouse.
The purpose of the museum is to illustrate the history of tennis in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs from the very beginning – the late 1870s.
Nine themes within the Museum are being developed – “Lawn Tennis Comes to the Downs”, “Tennis Clubs Across the Downs”, “James Street”, “People and Personalities”, “Easter Gold Cup”, “Home Grown Champions”, “Toowoomba in the Big Time”, “Birth of Officials”, “Birth of Veterans Tennis”.
Donations of items of local significance are very welcome. The museum is still under development.
We are currently looking for a new curator. Enquiries are welcome – please contact Ross Smythe in the Pro Shop if you are interested.
