Member News and Info
Members hosting visitors.
Visitors are welcome to play under the following conditions:
- Members may host a visitor who is a fully paid up member of any other affiliated tennis club free of charge for three visits. Thereafter a fee of $3.00 per visit should be paid. Limit 6 occasions.
- Members may host a visitor who is not a member of any other club for the same $3.00 fee, but only for a maximum number of 5 occasions. After these visits, that visitor is expected to become a member.
- Short term visitors from intra state, inter-state and overseas are guests of the club.
Visitors' fees should be paid into the lights payment box in the clubhouse at the time of the visit.
It is the responsibility of a member to ensure that visitors’ fees are paid. Members hosting visitors who are found to be playing without paying fees will be viewed with displeasure and may be asked by a Committee member as to how to rectify the situation immediately.
Lights
Light usage fees are to be paid into the box in the clubhouse inside an envelope clearly marked with your name and date/time. Rate is $6 per hour per court.
Please be aware the new lights on courts 3 and 4 are designed to shine across on to the opposite courts and ideally need to be used in conjunction. Therefore if possible, if you are using only one court, try to use one of the top courts.
Sharing Courts
We would like to remind members to please observe our longstanding policy which states that any courts which are not being used for coaching, pennant play, or designated Riverside Tennis Club social timeslots, should be shared equally by members wishing to play socially.
If you arrive and there are no free courts, let the players who are playing in their own group, on the free courts, know that you would also like to play socially, and then upon their invitation either join them to fill up the courts, or take a seat and wait for them to play one more set after you have approached them. When they have completed their one set, you are entitled to use the court to play one set while they wait, and so on.
If you are arriving early for a designated Riverside Tennis Club social timeslot, fill up all the empty courts fully before approaching any group who are already having a social hit amongst themselves. When the designated Riverside Tennis Club social timeslot begins, those groups are obliged to join in with all social timeslot players.
Court Maintenance
Members please make the effort, if you are physically able, to give the court brush a push around when you are finished if nobody else is waiting to use the court. This will stop sandy areas forming and causing the courts to be slippery. It will also stop moss getting an opportunity to grow. Sweep in a continuous motion across both courts from the tramlines near one fence to the tramlines near the other side fence.
Personal Accident Insurance
While our club members are covered by the Tennis Australia personal accident insurance please note that the policy does not include any treatment already covered by Medicare (including the Medicare Gap). The Health Insurance Act 1973 does not permit the insurer to contribute to any charges covered by Medicare (including the Medicare Gap).
The policy does cover a range of events including death and disability, loss of income and rehabilitation costs – to see what the Tennis Australia covers please cut and paste the link below:
