Associations Junior Pennant (AJP)

Associations Junior Pennant is the next step in your tennis pathway. 

Formerly known as AJL this additional competition is aimed at Compettion players who want to higher level tennis and represent their region.

Associations Junior Pennant is the best opportunity for  junior tennis players to represent their association against the top players from other associations in a fun, team league.

Associations Junior Pennant consists of:

  •  10 round season with a Grand Final on week 11
  • 4-6 player teams per Round
  • Played Sunday mornings starting Sunday 20 August, concluding on Sunday 19 November (Grand Final Day)
  • Play commences at 8:30 am and concludes by 1 pm
  • No play during school holidays or Cup Weekend
  • Four singles rubbers (best of two sets with third set match tiebreaker) and two doubles rubbers (8 game set) in each home and away match
  • Graded within age groups where players participate in 10/u (mixed), 12/u, 14/u or Junior Open leagues

New for 2023 is the Junior Open age group which encompasses both 16/u and 18/u age groups. Junior Open A will be the highest section, aimed at providing an elite playing environment for high performance juniors. Lower sections will cater for developing and participation based teams.

AJP is also now the gateway to playing all PTA Representative teams.  To qualify for the State Team Championships in February 2024 (formerly the Pat Cash Cup), players must compete in a minimum of 3 matches during the 2023 Associations Junior Pennant season. 

Teams will be selected from players who have completed the registration form and based on ability. To qualify for AJP players must have competed in a minimum of 6 matches in the PTA Junior Competition. Tryouts may be necessary where a large amount of entrants have applied.

A registration fee of $60 per player (tbc) will be payable upon selection to cover team entry fees, balls and court hire. The PTA will also supply a team shirt.
