FIONA MIOTTI  (nee Simpson)
Australian Hockey Player, 1986-1989

Fi Miotti, who for a period graced the NPTC courts on a social level, continues to never miss an opportunity to attend NPTC social events! Whilst other members of the Miotti family, are still a big part of the Club.

Before hitting the NPTC courts, Fi played key roles in both the Junior and Senior Australian Women’s Hockey Squads, at an international level, as either a half-back or full-back, from 1985 through to 1989.

Fi began her hockey career at age 13, playing for Grads Women’s Hockey Club. Between 1983 & 2001, Fi played First Division (State League) for Grads initially, but made the move to the UWA Hockey Club in 1988. During this time, Fi was recruited to WAIS (1985) and one year later, recruited by the AIS (1986-1989 inclusive)..

Over an impressive 10 year period, Fi represented both WA and Australia in various squads and at numerous national and international competitions.

National/International Competitions:
Four Nations Tournament, Seoul, Korea (Gold Medal)

Awards/Inductions:
Inducted into the WAIS Hall of Champions 2020 as part of the WA 1986-1990 Women’s State Hockey Teams, noting the team won seven consecutive National championships between 1985 -1991.



BRODIE JAMES  
The Australian Ballet - Soloist

Brodie, a WA home grown 90’s baby, and a third generation James to play at NPTC, graced our courts as he began to pursue his passion as a professional dancer and athlete.

Brodie, who currently resides in Melbourne, began his dance training with jazz and acrobatics at the Jody Marshall Dance Company in 2001.  He trained at The Graduate College of Dance from 2005 under the direction of Dawn Weller.  Brodie was offered a scholarship to attend The Australian Ballet School in 2008; while there he spent time studying at Canada’s National Ballet School as an exchange student.  He toured with The Dancers Company in 2011 and joined The Australian Ballet in 2012. In 2014,  Brodie participated in a dancer exchange, performing with the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp. Brodie was promoted to coryphée in 2017, and to soloist in 2018.

Brodie is currently in the home stretch of completing a BA of Media & Communications

 

 

SYLVIA CORNES
Actor, Musician

Local North Perth artist, Sylvia Cornes, was gifted with a few talents, none of which is tennis...though she’s always up for a hit with her family, current members at NPTC.

Performing in her own musical cabaret shows that pay tribute to niche artists, such as Françoise Hardy and Rickie Lee Jones, is apparently her shtick.

in 2020, thanks to her publicist Frances Spencer, Sylvia's debut self-produced Fringe show 'Françoise and Friends' sold out its entire season at the Ellington Jazz Club. 

For Fringe World 2021, between 18 and 21 January, Sylvia premiered her brand new show, 'We Belong(ed) Together' - a tribute to American singer, Rickie Lee Jones. 'Françoise and Friends' is also making a come back...
