What is social tennis ?

Social tennis brings together people from our local community on a Saturday and Sunday (2pm-5pm) and Wednesday evenings in summer (from 4pm).  Saturday afternoon is the official social play/day with afternoon tea provided and organised tennis.
It’s a great way to keep fit, have fun and improve your tennis.  All you need are the skills to play tennis, appropriate shoes and a racquet (if you have no racquet we can probably even help with that!).  The first visit is free with our voucher. We write your name down, create doubles teams, send you out to play for 22 minutes, ring a bell and bring you back for a short (2 minute break) … and then you’re back into the next set with a new group of players. We try to evenly match opposing teams in doubles groups to ensure you get an enjoyable, competitive game.  About 3:30 pm we stop for afternoon tea and treats - our Club has a good reputation for putting on a consistently good spread!

Had enough for the day?  Just tell us and we take your name off the board.  Want a game of singles? We can set up a game with a partner of similar skills.

Have time after play is finished? Stay around for nibbles and drinks and wind-down from the afternoon.  A great view of the City can be had from the Clubrooms.

All are welcome so come by, talk with us and grab a racquet if so inclined.

We play social tennis mainly on grass (as it’s a easier for our bodies) but the hard courts are also available.

Social tennis is ideal for those looking for a stress-free game of tennis among like-minded players, who are all there for the fun!

These are flexible sessions with no set number of games, a balanced competition (requiring mid- to high- level of tennis skills) in a relaxed environment.  Social tennis is great for all levels and is a fun way to develop your skills.  Unsure of your skills ?  Contact the club coach (see coaching tab) and arrange a session with others (juniors or adults) wanting to improve their skills before taking on social tennis.
