Format of matches and standard of play is significantly higher than WDTA senior competition tennis. Pennant competition is available on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon in home and away formats. Players are required to play at least 50% of all home and away matches.

Tennis Victoria Pennant is played over 14 weeks, with eight teams per section. Singles and doubles rubbers alternate each week throughout the season. Singles and doubles are the best of three tie-break sets.
