Exciting New Format
The 2025 VJTC will feature an exciting new format for the singles draw - round-robin matches will ensure a minimum of three matches for each player with the top player(s) from each group advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament. The singles players that do not progress out of the round-robin groups will be placed in a consolation draw with further matches in a Fast4 format.
It is hoped that these changes will generate a greater atmosphere and buzz with a higher concentration of matches over a shorter period of time, thereby requiring a shorter time commitment from players and making scheduling easier to plan. Instead of a tournament that runs for two to three weekends, the new format will enable completion of the VJTC over three Sundays (weather permitting).
Singles and doubles round-robin stage
One tiebreak set first to 6 games (tiebreak at 6-6)
Singles and doubles knockout stage (round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals)
One tiebreak set first to 8 games (tiebreak at 7-7)
Singles final and doubles final
Best of 3 tiebreak sets
Singles consolation Fast4
Fast4 rules
Depending on the number of entries, the respective doubles events will either be played in a knockout or round-robin format.
Tournament organisers will endeavour to schedule round robin matches in blocks from 11am-2pm or 2pm-5pm. These times are indicative and subject to change.
Matches on Sunday 7 September 2025 (Father's Day) would commence no earlier than 1pm.
Matches will be forfeited if players arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled match start time. Unavailability at the scheduled match time will lead to a forfeit.
In the event of inclement weather, matches will be scheduled for either Saturday 30 August, 6 September or 13 September. (Those unable to play due to religious reasons will be accommodated with alternative dates).
