Whilst the Association was incorporated on 24 September, 1993 under the Associations Incorporation Act of 1981 (Qld), we have been running mid-week ladies’ tennis competitions on the Gold Coast for 60 years.
Our Constitution is based on the Model Rules for Associations.
A Management Committee oversees the overall running of the Association and separate sub-committees oversee the running of the Tuesday and Thursday competitions.
Our Annual General Meeting and Season 1 Presentations are normally held in June each year. Our Season 2 Presentations are held at end of year lunches in late November or early December.
We have over 160 members registered with the Association.
The Association is affiliated with Tennis Queensland and Tennis Australia. Our affiliation provides members with many benefits including access to:
- a group personal accident policy should you have an accident whilst playing in one of our competitions
- purchase tickets to major tennis events (e.g., the Australian Open) before general ticket sales start
- enter ballots for tickets to Wimbledon and the French Open (these normally close early to mid April each year)
- free and subsidised courses and workshops
- advice and support to run the Association.
More details on our personal injury and liability insurance cover and claim forms for personal injury are available here (scroll to the bottom of this page to find the claim form).
The Association sends a delegate to the Gold Coast Regional Assembly meetings.
Each competition holds an end of year lunch where we fund-raise for a selected charity. Our current beneficiary is Rosies. Previous beneficiaries have included Friends with Dignity (Little Friends Scholarship Program ), Baby Give Back and Orange Sky Australia .
