Group Lessons
There are a variety of group tennis lesson options that link to the stage of development of each player.
All group lessons align with the My Vida Journey pathway, which helps guide each player’s tennis journey. A cornerstone of all group lessons is fun! A child will always learn and develop if they are enjoying tennis in a fun and supportive environment.
All group lessons are energetic, high participation, and small in size to create a great environment to fast-track learning and promote individual development. As the players progress, the emphasis is placed on tactical and technique awareness. Players will be placed in groups of similar ages and standards, and a racquet can be provided for the session if required.
Group Tennis Lessons for 3 to 5 Year Olds
The Vida Head Start stages are designed to develop and promote mastery of fundamental perceptual motor skills, the building blocks of sport, physical activity, and child development.
Sessions are run in a fun, enthusiastic environment for kids aged 3 to 5 and combine tennis and other skill-based activities to promote locomotion and balance, catch, track and intercept, throw, kick and strike, and cognitive development.
Group Tennis Lessons for 5 to 10 Year Olds
The My Progress program follows on from the Head Start program with red ball lessons leading to orange balls Hot Shots lessons. These stages guide the child through their tennis pathway with key milestones along the way. There are four levels in each of the red and orange ball sections of the program designed to help the child build skills in six key development learning areas of tennis:
- Ground strokes
- Rally
- Net play
- Serve and return
- Game base
- Physical development
The tennis lessons are structured to teach the required components of the learning areas within their group lessons. As the child transitions through the levels, they go from a cooperate-to-play theme to real tennis.
Group Tennis Lessons for 9+ Year Olds – Junior Development Green & Yellow
The Junior Development Green & Yellow Ball programs continue the player pathway in the six key development learning areas of tennis.
These lessons are on a full-size tennis court and use either green ball or yellow ball depending on the skill level of the player. A key theme in these lessons is “play”. Students continue to develop their technical skills which closely align with a tactical outcome.
