FAQ and Policies
MTA POLICIES
ENROLMENT
All new participants must complete an enrolment form before the start of the term. For re-enrolment in the following term, notice must be given before the current term ends. While returning players will be given priority, your spot in the same group, on the same day or at the same time is not guaranteed without prior notification.
PAYMENT
Full payment is required at the start of each term. If payment is not received by the end of the first session, MTA reserves the right to suspend further lessons until payment is made.
CANCELLATIONS
To be eligible for a make-up lesson, a minimum of 24 hours' notice must be provided directly to your MTA coach. If no notice is given, that session will be forfeited with no make-up or credit provided. Exceptions may be considered in exceptional or unforeseen circumstances, at MTA’s discretion.
WEATHER POLICY
Lessons may be cancelled due to rain or extreme heat. In the case of rain, a decision will be made as close to lesson time as possible unless conditions allow for an earlier decision. Notifications will be sent via SMS.
If the temperature reaches 37°C or above, MTA’s Heat Policy will apply and lessons may be postponed or cancelled. If you have not been contacted, please assume the session is going ahead. Make-up sessions will be arranged for any weather-related cancellations. MTA has the final say on all weather-related decisions.
MAKE-UP LESSONS
Make-up sessions will be offered during the school term or holiday periods. If this is not possible, a credit may be provided for the next term. It is the participant’s responsibility to contact MTA to schedule their make-up lesson.
MEDICAL
In the event that medical treatment is required and a parent or guardian cannot be reached, the supervising MTA coach is authorised to seek medical attention as deemed necessary. MTA is released from all liability for injury or medical costs arising from participation in its programs or events.
PHOTOS & VIDEO/PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
Photos and videos may be taken during lessons or events for use in MTA marketing materials, including our website and social media platforms. If you do not consent to you or your child appearing in photos or video, please inform MTA in writing.

- A child’s behaviour is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or harmful to others; or
- A parent/guardian’s conduct is considered inappropriate, disrespectful, negligent, or damaging to MTA’s reputation or operations.

2025: FAQ - MTA – Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time for my child to start tennis coaching?
Children can start tennis coaching at any age. At MTA, we offer programs starting from age 3 and up, tailored to suit each stage of development.
What program is most suitable for my child?
Programs are assigned based on your child’s age and skill level. An initial assessment will be conducted to ensure your child is placed in the program that best supports their progress.
Does my child need their own racquet or other equipment?
We strongly recommend that children have their own racquet for lessons. However, MVTA has a limited number of loan racquets available. For Hot Shots Red Tennis classes, all equipment is provided.
Can I purchase a racquet through MTA?
Yes. It's important your child uses a racquet with the correct size, weight, and balance. Our coaches can advise you and offer demo racquets to try before purchasing.
What should my child wear and bring to coaching?
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows free movement
- Tennis shoes (or flat-soled shoes to avoid court damage)
- A hat, sunscreen, and water bottle are also strongly recommended
Can I enrol after the term has already started?
Yes. Enrolments are accepted at any time during the term. Fees will be calculated on a pro rata basis.
What happens in case of rain or extreme heat?
In the event of bad weather, MTA will endeavour to for parties to be notified at least 30 minutes before your lesson if it is cancelled. If you don’t receive a cancellation message, please assume the lesson will proceed.
How do I arrange a make-up lesson?
Make-up lessons can be organised by contacting your coach to arrange a suitable time. Make-ups should be scheduled before the start of the following term wherever possible.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
If you provide at least 24 hours’ notice, a make-up lesson can be arranged. If no notice is given, the lesson will be forfeited and no credit or refund will be provided. Camps, weddings, birthdays etc do not constitute allowed absence - only for medical reasons or weather policy.
Do I need to re-enrol each term?
Yes. To secure your place, you must notify MTA before the end of each term if you wish to continue into the next term.
Do I need to be a tennis club member to join MTA programs?
No. Our programs are open to the public and there is no requirement to be a member of a tennis club.
