Competition

Winter Season starts strongly after first 3 rounds.

After the first three rounds of the 2026 winter season, our Tennis Victoria pennant teams have made a positive start, with several sides already well placed on their respective ladders and building strong momentum.

In Men’s State Grade, we sit at the top of the ladder with 35 points and a 2–0–1 record, while our
Women’s State Grade team is currently 5th with 20 points after opening the season against a very
strong field.

There have also been excellent early results across the men’s grades. Our teams are currently placed 2nd in Grade 1, 1st in Grade 3, 2nd in Grade 5, 3rd in Grade 6, 3rd in Grade 10, 5th in Grade 12, 6th in Grade 13 and 1st in Grade 15.

It has been especially pleasing to see the club represented strongly across multiple grades, with
several teams already in the top four and others well within reach as the season begins to take shape.

We’ve also had several players having to step in for higher teams and have still performed strongly.
Women’s Grade 2 has started well, sitting 5th after three rounds on 22 points in a competitive
section, while Women’s Grade 4 is currently 5th as well with 26 points, having recorded a win, a
draw and a loss.

Among the early standouts are our Men’s State Grade, Men’s Grade 3, and Men’s Grade 15 teams,
all of whom are currently sitting on top of their ladders, while Men’s Grade 1 and Men’s Grade 5 are
both strongly placed in second.

Individually, it’s worth mentioning a few performances, including from Sam Dowler - State Grade
(singles 2-0 with another unfinished match when in a winning position & doubles 2-1), Raph Savelli - Grade 1 (3-0 singles & 2-1 doubles), Aaron Addison – Grade 1 (2-0 singles & 2-0 doubles), and Onurcan Arman – Grade 15 (3-0 singles & 2-1 doubles).

With plenty of tennis still to be played, the opening three rounds have provided a strong foundation
and we look forward to seeing our teams continue to build through the middle part of the season.
It’s great to see some of the club’s junior comp players move into the senior ranks and perform so
well.

Waverley Winter competition

Our B Special 1 team has also made a strong start to the Waverley Winter competition, sitting 1st
after Round 3 on 20.0 points, narrowly ahead of Essex Heights.

Eastern Region Tennis

Sunday Singles Doubles 1. Our team is currently 5th after Round 2. With two rounds fully washed out affecting the draw, the side has had a limited start but remains well in touch as the season develops.
