MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 16 October 2024

Meeting commenced at 8.00 pm in the Clubroom

 

Present: Neale Woods, Kerryn Ashton, Frank Amtstaetter, Michelle Phillips, Mark Sfiligoj, Melissa Hughes, Kris Kearney, Pam Sellers

 

Apologies: Jason Rosewarne, Trish Diggle.

 

Correspondence: Neale reported that the main correspondence involved emails and meetings with DEECA, Nillumbik and Tennis Vic with regards to installing a root barrier for Court 3 and gaining acknowledgment and financial support for the future, as well as various funding submissions.

 

Extraordinary General Business

It was moved that the agenda be suspended for the following motion.

‘That Mark Sfiligoj be awarded a life membership to the Wattle Glen Tennis Club’

Neale thanked Mark for his enormous contribution over the years and presented Mark with a plaque acknowledging his life membership.

 

Reports:

Treasurer’s Report

Frank emailed his Treasurer’s Report to Committee members prior to the meeting. The club is in a good financial position. Frank pointed out that some of the current funds are allocated for the baseline repair on Court 1.

 

President’s Report

Neale expressed his gratitude to everyone on the Committee for their contribution over the last year. Neale especially thanked Frank for his active role as Treasurer over the last two years. Neale volunteered to be Acting Treasurer while we seek a volunteer to fill the position.

Motion:     That the following membership fees for 2025 recommended by the Committee be accepted.

The due date for payment is 31 December, 2024. Those who pay by this date are eligible for a $10 discount for a full year junior or senior membership and a $20 discount for a full year family membership. Once a player has played three games for a team, he or she must pay the membership fee. Pro rata and discounted hardship rates to be negotiated upon request.

Neale placed a small bin on the kitchen bench for dirty dish towels that Trish will monitor. It was suggested that we should get new hand and tea towels. Kris volunteered to follow this up.

4       General Business

The following whiteboard suggestions were discussed during the Committee meeting prior to the AGM:

  • Hanging the 1922 photo on the wall – Jason had earlier volunteered to have the photo reframed before we hang it up.
  • Heaters for the deck – we are not in a financial position to install heaters at this stage. Neale will look for grant opportunities to seek funds for the installation.
  • Lines in the parking lot – Jason previously found a good source for paint for bitumen surfaces that he will explore. We also discussed removing some of the grass, and using clean fill and screenings to develop more parking spaces on the main road. Neale to explore options.
