COVID-19 Update 29 September 2021 - WE ARE BACK OPEN!
 

Dear Members,

We have some great news! Tennis is back! We will open from Thursday 30 September 2021.

Banyule City Council Directions for reopening and returning to play tennis is as follows:

  • Tennis venues can open subject to the DHHS guidelines with a maximum of 5 per venue
  • You must be within 15 km
  • You must check in using the Services Vic App using the QR code sheets at our club, on the front gate
  • You must wear a mask (can be removed for play)
  • The clubroom must be closed

What this means for our Club:

  • We are opening 1 court (court 3) for play
  • Singles play can return for two people for participants who are not fully vaccinated
  • Doubles play can return for four people from no more than two households for fully vaccinated participants. Participants must carry proof of vaccination and may be required to show this to an authorised officer at any time
  • We have to limit bookings to 1 hour per day, to ensure an opportunity for all to return to play
  • Only current financial members will be allowed to book a court with times open from 7am to 8.30pm (due to current curfew rules)
  • No guests will be allowed to play, all bookings must have all members name entered in and all members must check in on arrival

We have been working behind the scenes and talking to both Tennis Victoria and Banyule Council. We are aware of the Tennis Victoria advice, but currently Council and Tennis Victoria are working together to clarify the rules around venue limits that may apply. We will respond accordingly as any changes are announced.

COVID-19 Update 27 July 2021

Dear Members,

We are out of lockdown!!!

Please see below for an update provided by Tennis Victoria, after the Victorian Government announced the restrictions will be easing from 11.59pm tonight (27 July 2021).

What this means for Viewbank Tennis Club?

  • Competitions, tournaments, and coaching/training is permitted for all ages. Limited to the minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity (players, coaches, and parent/guardian for supervision purposes).
  • Indoor and outdoor tennis centres can open. For indoor tennis centres, a COVID Check-in Marshal must ensure attendees check-in.
  • Clubhouses can open subject to a density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm. Clubs/Centres with café facilities are also subject to the hospitality guidelines.
  • Maximum group coaching sizes of 10.
  • There are no travel restrictions within Victoria.
  • Face coverings are to be carried at all times and worn indoors and outdoors except if a medical exception applies. They can be removed when participating.
  • Spectators are not permitted (excludes people necessary to facilitate the activity such as coaches, trainers, umpires, carers, parents and guardians).
  • Importantly, All coaches, players, students, parents, guardians and visitors must check in to the venue using the QR code’s provided

Competition

Tennis Victoria Pennant will return for Round 12 this coming weekend.  Unfortunately, spectators won’t be allowed.  All players must check in to the club on entry using the QR code posters at the club.

NEJTA/NENTG/DVTA competitions – We are awaiting further updates and we will be in touch once we confirm details. Updates will be send from our competition coordinators.

Membership

As our membership year for 2021/2022 commenced from the 1st of July please ensure your membership has been paid so you can play for free on our courts, otherwise our membership system won't recognise you as a member, and the online book-a-court booking system will begin charging you as a non-member for all your court bookings day and night.
Members who are playing competitions for Viewbank MUST have a active membership.
