All members are invited to participate in our monthly Round Robin Tournaments. Our Round Robins are a great way to spend your Sunday. Join us in the morning from 9.00am to 12.00noon, or in the afternoon from 1.00pm to 4.00pm. Afterwards, you’re invited to a lovely (optional) late morning tea or afternoon tea, where winners and runners-up receive charming prizes, such as a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates. We typically have 15 to 20 enthusiastic players.

Format

Our round robins are all doubles matches! You’ll be paired with different players for each 8-game set and typically play 3 or 4 sets. This ensures you meet and interact with many participants throughout the event. When the total number of players isn’t divisible by 4, some players will have a bye.

When we have 16 or more players, we divide into two groups based on skill level, not age. New players are encouraged to arrive a bit early to have a quick hit with one of our regulars to determine the appropriate group. If we get it wrong the first time, don’t worry—we’ll make sure you’re placed in the right group next time!

Dividing into groups can be a bit of a challenge, especially with gender imbalances. Sometimes, mid-range players might find themselves in different groups on different days. We do our best to mix sets and ensure everyone has an enjoyable morning or afternoon of tennis.

How to enter

To participate, simply respond to an email from our organisers sent about a week before the event. Be prompt, as spots can be limited based on court availability, and entries are accepted in order of receipt until we are full.

Can I play if I am not a member? 

If you’re interested in trying our round robins before officially joining TSACT, you’re more than welcome! Contact our friendly secretary (details below) to be added to the mailing list for the next event. If you enjoy your experience and wish to join us again, we’d love for you to become a TSACT member.

We require players to have a moderate standard of play. While we welcome individuals of various skill levels, we do not cater to beginners. Providing a reference to your experience in competitions or organised social tennis will help ensure a fun and competitive atmosphere for all participants.
