History of Redhead Tennis Club
Redhead Tennis Club was formed in 1952 with just one loam court on the current site in Burns Street. By 1975 the fourth and final court was added, along with the clubhouse and BBQ area. Soon after that the playing surface was changed to hard court, and again in 1988 when they were changed to synthetic grass. The synthetic grass court surface was replaced in 1998 and again in 2009. The club is currently in the process of organising for replacement of the court surface on all courts with some maintenance of the subsurface required. The club is also in the process of upgrading all court lighting to eco-friendly high-performance LED.
