Home of the Aspen Medical All-Abilities and Wheelchair Hub
History
North Woden Tennis Club (NWTC) was established in 1968 as a community club run by volunteers with 8 synthetic grass courts. A major redevelopment took place in 2014 with 4 of the courts replaced with synthetic hard courts.
In 2015 a hybrid model was adopted and a management agreement signed with Rising Star Tennis Academy to look after day to operations of the facility. The management committee still has oversight of the club's operations.
NWTC celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018.
In December 2021, the ACT Government announced a major funding boost to enable the club to resurface its severely damaged hardcourts. Aspen Medical also contributed funding to support the All Abilities and Wheelchair Hub for the ACT. With additional funding from Tennis Australia through the Bushfire Community Development Fund and the National Court Rebate Scheme, together with funding from the club's own resources, all 8 courts were able to be resurfaced.
In October 2023, Minister Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry MLA officially reopened North Woden Tennis Club also known as the Aspen Medical All Abilities and Wheelchair Hub.
