HISTORY
A night out with friends and a meeting around a kitchen table in Boondall were the catalysts for the formation of the Northside Ladies Tennis Club.
Long distances to be travelled from the northside of Brisbane (sometimes to Logan, Daisy Hill and Brookfield) in the Greater Brisbane competition and the expansion of the northern suburbs of Brisbane were encouraging reasons to formulate a ladies competition on that side of the city. With the initial involvement of Petrie, Burpengary and Boondall tennis centres the Northside Ladies Tennis Club was born and started playing fixtures in the early 1980s with 8 teams in the first season. To begin with there were 2 teams from Boondall (the Granites and the Swifts), 2 from Burpengary and 4 from Petrie. In the second season Boondall Crosscourts and Boondall Shots joined in, along with another 4 teams from Petrie and another from Burpengary. The original Committee members were: Janice Adams, Billy Wright, Ros Wolcott, Ailsa Garvey and Barbara Kennedy.
The competition expanded over the years and at its most popular time some 38 teams were playing at 6 centres.
In 1997 the Club incorporated and today has a healthy, happy and keen group of players.
