UPDATE 25 June 2025
We'd like to provide an update on the upcoming court resurfacing works. Due to the recent wet weather, our surface provider, ASTE, has been unable to complete their current projects as planned. They had intended to catch up and still complete our resurfacing works during the upcoming school holidays, but with the forecast looking wet for the next week, this will not be possible.
As a result, we have rescheduled the resurfacing to the September school holidays, starting on Wednesday 17 September and finishing by the end of the holidays.
This means the courts will be available for use throughout the July school holidays. Hopefully the weather will improve and you can get out on the courts for a hit!
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure the best possible surface for all our members. We'll keep you updated closer to the date

We are very pleased to share some important and exciting news about improvements coming to Murrumbeena Tennis Club!
During the July school holidays, we will be upgrading our court surfaces to a synthetic classic clay. This modern surface offers several advantages over en tout cas, including:
More Play, Less Disruption – Tennis can be played during light rain and resumed quickly after heavy rain.
Enhanced Safety - Reduces the risk of slips and falls with a stable, non-slip surface.
Consistent Playability – Maintains the characteristics of clay with consistent ball bounce and slide like we are accustomed to.
Eco-Friendly & Economical – Decreases our water usage and minimises maintenance costs, saving the club both money and resources.
Attractive & Inviting – These new courts will create a modern, professional court environment that appeals to players of all levels in the surrounding area.
Increased Member Satisfaction & Club Growth - Foster a thriving tennis community with increased court usage.
The upgrade is scheduled to take place while schools are on break to minimise disruption to coaching and competitions. The courts will be closed from Wednesday 2 July and are expected to re-open on Monday 21 July.
This is a significant investment for the Club, and while we’ve sought funding from Council and both levels of government, unfortunately, no support has been provided. We’re now taking out a loan to fund the upgrade—but we’d love to keep this as small as possible.
To help, a generous donor has come forward and offered to match all donations at a rate of $2 for every $1 donated, up to $10,000! That means if you contribute $100, the Club will receive $300. This offer is capped at $5,000 in community donations and $10,000 from the donor—so every contribution makes a big difference.
If you’d like to support the court upgrade, please consider making a tax-deductible donation before 30 June via this link:
Thank you for your support as we continue to improve the club for all members of our community!
Warm regards,
The Murrumbeena Tennis Club Committee
