Junior comp at MTA

The Mansfield Junior Tennis Competition has been designed to encourage enjoyment and skill development in young participants aged 8 to under 18.

The aggregate competition has been structured to allow for players to miss a week without letting team mates down and join the competition at any stage of the season.  The format allows for all players to have 3-4 sets (first to 4 games) of tennis a week including opportunities to play both doubles and singles.

The competition runs on Saturday mornings in Term 4 and 1 (except for public holiday weekends). The players register on arrival at the courts at 8.45am for a 9.00am start. Sections are created based on those players present on the day. Participants are placed with players of like skill and efforts are made to make each section socially appropriate. Players can progress up the sections depending on results. Each week players rotate partners and opponents from players within their section.

Short tutorials will be held at various stages of the season on rules, match strategies, tiebreakers, and etiquette. Our goal is that even beginners will be able to play matches independently at the end of the season.

The Mansfield Junior Tennis committee values and appreciates the assistance of parents to assist with scoring in the beginning stages. As children develop, they are encouraged to keep score themselves.

Participants are required to be members of the Mansfield Tennis Association, after that there are no ongoing fees. Junior Membership is $40 per child and Family Social Memberships start from $200 and includes children in the Saturday Morning Junior Competition.  https://play.tennis.com.au/mansfieldtennisassociation/Membership/Join
