In singles, Assaf was unbelievable from the start. Taking charge and dominating the court to win 8-1 against a very solid player.
While Asaf struggled at the start against a very tricky player, going down 2-4 (0-30). From there, Asaf started to get his game going and fought back to get it to 6-6, where he then won the next 8 points in a row to claim an important 8-6 win.
Jordan played against the same player from 2 weeks ago and the result ended in very similar fashion. After the first 6 games being on serve (3-3), Jordan started to play really solid and consistent tennis to win the next 5 games in a row to win 8-3.
Jonny came against a very consistent player and found himself in a very tight battle. After gaining a lead at the start, Jonny found himself 6-5 down and knew he wasn’t playing his best. However, from there, Jonny started to play more solid tennis and took control of the points, hitting his opponent off the court and winning the next 3 games to win 8-6.
At the end of the day, it was an incredible singles performance. Winning all 4 singles and allowing all of us to relax and rather enjoy a tan in the sun as we watched the other semi final. A big thank you to Daniel who was meant to play the doubles but instead drove an hour to Frankston and back to come watch us play for 2 hours - hopefully it was a nice drive.
We will be playing at Dingley next Saturday and would love as much support as possible to hopefully go one better than last season and bring home the premiership!

We knew today was gonna be tough but it was a great opportunity for an upset.
Jesse against a far taller player, played fantastic, hadn’t played against this team throughout the season but really gutsed it out against a very good player. Jesse had his moments but unfortunately went down 8-4.
Similarly, although Ben definitely improved on his performance from a few weeks against the same player, where today he was able to attack more, couldn’t quite get the momentum in the middle of the match. Unfortunately missed a big opportunity to take it to 4-4, however his opponent stepped up his serving took it to 5-3 and the res was history, going down 8-4 as well.
Seb, although didn’t start great, really pushed his opponent later in the match, in a pretty close battle where it was 6-5 late, his opponent stepped up and took it 8-5.
Now we get to Maccabi’s own DAWG!!! Whether it’s footy or tennis, this man clutches it in finals. Against a player he went down against a few weeks ago, he was well and truly woofing today, taking our only rubber of the day and representing Maccabi fantastically.
In doubles, Jesse and Ben played pretty well, they had their chances and each game was very competitive, however the opposition’s powerful serving and overall hitting was too strong, going down 6-3 6-2.
Our spring chickens Paul and Ash rounded us off and similarly to the other doubles, it was a pretty close battle but couldn’t quite transfer it to the scoreboard, also going down in straight sets.
Overall, disappointing to lose but had a great season, was fun filled and definitely had some laughs along the way. Big thanks to Jesse, Seb, Ash, our DAWG Jack, Stephen, Paul and Jacob for a great season!!
