Lighting up the way for the next 100 years
Long Island Tennis Club is excited to announce the launch of a fundraising campaign to install court lights, enhancing playability and accessibility for players of all ages and skill levels.
As a cornerstone of the local tennis community, the Long Island Tennis Club has provided a welcoming environment for recreational and competitive players for 100 years. However, the absence of lighting has limited play, reducing opportunities for members and local athletes to enjoy the game. The installation of court lights will extend playing hours, improve scheduling flexibility, and allow for greater community engagement.
“Our goal is to make tennis more accessible to everyone,” said Russell Kerr, President of Long Island Tennis Club. “With the addition of court lighting, we can accommodate more players, host evening matches, and create a better experience for our members.”
The club is seeking to raise the funding required to cover the costs of high-quality, energy-efficient lighting. Contributions from members, local businesses, and community supporters are vital to achieving this goal. Donations can be made online at Lighting up the way ahead-for the next 100 years | Australian Sports Foundation or in person at the club.
In support of the initiative, the club will be hosting a series of fundraising events. These events will not only raise funds but also bring together tennis enthusiasts and supporters to celebrate the sport and its impact on the community.
“We encourage everyone to get involved,” added Russell. “Whether through donations, participation in events, or spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference.”
