History

Kingsbury Youth Tennis Club (as it was then) was formed by a Public Meeting on Sunday 11 September 1983 at the Kingsbury Youth Club in Browning St Kingsbury. Thirty nine people attended that meeting and a Committee was formed and the name above was adopted. The first Committee included the following people:
President-Joe Woods
Vice President-Hugh Cowman
Secretary– John Wright
Treasurer-John Gluyas
Assistant Treasurer-Julie Crane
Committee Members: Richard Eldridge, Ann Jungwirth, Trevor Hasting,
Gary Stuart, Ros Oakes and Terry Wileman.

On Saturday the 19 November 1983 our two plexipave courts were officially opened with Council representatives, Kingsbury Youth Club and community people in attendance. From that humble beginning and the passion of many community minded people the club has fostered and grown. A pavillion and toilet were developed in later years and with the growth of the membership the Council graciously built the two En tout cas courts.

In 2014 the Committee, in conjunction with the Darebin council, were able to upgrade the plexipave courts.
