Welcome to our July update. We are now less than six weeks to Spring and the start of a new tennis season. The numbers turning up for Thursday Ladies and Saturday mixed during winter are very encouraging . We have paused our Tuesday evening Pickleball due to lack of numbers because of the cold nights. We will recommence once the evening light stretches out to around 7.00 pm.

This season is looking particularly exciting as we have Steve Storer on board as our coach. We are hoping that will see an influx of junior members to the club, and junior teams competing at the Tennis Centre. Steve is also putting together senior teams for Saturday afternoon comps. Our aim is to put three teams on the Court ,one in each grade. Ideally we can get enough players so that we can rotate throughout the season ,and no one is committed every week. If you, or anyone you know is interested please contact either myself or Steve.

As mentioned above, we are hopeful of an increase in junior members in the coming months. With this in mind , we are looking to strengthen our processes re safeguarding the safety of our junior members. Ironbark Tennis Club has always aspired to be a Community Club, a place where families and friends can come, play tennis and socialise in a safe and fun atmosphere. It should be a place where eveyone is equal , no matter who they are, where they are from, or what is their level of ability. It should be a safe and secure space. This is very much our aim as we grow, and work towards our 100 year anniversary. To help this happen, we need to appoint a Member Protection Information Officer. The role of this officer is to be the first point of contact for enquiries, concerns or complaints of harrasement and abuse,or any other inappropriate behavior and then co-ordinate the appropriate course of action. If any member feels that this something that they would like to do, please contact me and I would be happy to provide more information and discuss it fully.

The committee met last week, and a decision was made to keep next year's fees at the current level . The AGM will be held on Saturday September 14th @ 12.00 pm in the Clubrooms. All members are invited. We will keep the meeting as short as possible!

Family Day/ Registration Day will be held on Sunday 6th October from 9.30 until 12.00 .It's a good chance to come along sign the family up, have a free BBQ Breakfast and check out the Courts, be it Tennis, Pickleball or Hotshots.

School Holiday Program . There will be a school holiday program operating from September the 23rd. Details to follow later.

We have been granted permission by the Djarra Corporation to use the indigenous name for Ironbark, yirrip, alongside the english version. You will see this being gradually introduced over time.

Finally, I have spoken before about the initiative of Pam Erny , one of our members who is starting up a great volunteer concept, Cycling Without Age. Pam has organised an information Session tomorrow afternoon at the Club @3.00 pm. For further information I have attached a flyer.

Finally we would like to thank our sponsors, Butterfly Audiology and P.H Property for their continued support. Also, if the children are interested in Karate, check Ray McLean's martial arts at the club on Friday nights and Sunday mornings.

Cheers,
