PRESIDENT’S REPORT

2021/2022

Dear Members,

The year that has just gone has been another year affected by Covid which has impacted all Community sport including Tennis. It has also been a year which has seen the Club grow membership, improve facilities and have greater court participation than has been seen for many years.

The most important achievement has been the addition of two new synthetic grass courts organised and paid for by the club without any outside assistance. We then met with Council on a number of occasions this year, which has resulted in a new asphalt  car park and entrance off Eaglehawk Rd. They have cleared shrubbery and weed as stage one of the precinct upgrade. Also, it has been agreed that the fencing is past its use by date and will be replaced by Council at a date to be decided. Keep tuned. We currently have a grant application into Govt. to update the remaining section of the old asphalt court into a pickle ball court.

Earlier this year we had a Culture on Court Day, which launched our Big Dreams Programme to encourage the children in the area, of all race, colour and gender, to get into Tennis.  We then received a grant from Fosterville Gold to assist us in this endeavour. This has been planned  for the upcoming school term. We also are planning another refugee day on court in November, and I am currently in discussion with Vision Australia about setting up a programme of Tennis for the visually impaired.

I would like to thank the members for their generosity in assisting the couple from Ukraine, who are now working and settling into their new life .Your help has been much appreciated.

We have been fortunate to have CV Studio lease the hall this year. They left us for a few months due to the cold, but will be back in October.

Finally, I would like to thank the members for their continuing support, and if our numbers keep increasing the future looks assured as we move toward the club’s 100 years anniversary.

Adrian Cox

President.
