HTA Legend Angus Thomson passes

The HTA and South Australia's tennis world is deeply saddened by the passing of Angus Thomson, one of South Australia’s most enduring contributors to the sport.

Angus (pictured on the left with Jan Walczak at Tennis SA's testimonial dinner) dedicated more than 70 years to tennis in South Australia with a significant amount of time and effort devoted to the Hills Tennis Association, through coaching, officiating, and tournament administration.

Throughout his years of service, Angus shared a wealth of knowledge and passion with generations of players, not only within the HTA but throughout South Australia. We was heavily involved with Tennis SA, serving as a Court Supervisor, Referee, and Officiating Educator for 16 years, continuing to officiate until his retirement in 2020. Remarkably, Angus worked his final event at the age of 88, a testament to his incredible energy, commitment, and love for the game.

Angus influenced countless lives through his dedication, professionalism, and warmth. The Hills Tennis Association extends its sincere condolences to Angus’ family, friends, and the many people in the tennis community whose lives he touched. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
