Court Care

To keep our courts in top condition, all members MUST please observe the following rules:

  1. Courts MUST be watered before play.
  2. Water AFTER each set. More often in dry weather.
  3. BAG court after play. Water court in dry weather before bagging.
  4. Always Bag and Water the court FENCE TO FENCE.
  5. Brooms on the court can be used to sweep the lines if they become covered.

WATERING COURTS

Players must ensure that the En Tout Cas courts are, as a rule, thoroughly watered, prior to play. This particularly relates to summer months and late spring and early autumn when conditions are warm and dry. Players should use discretion if weather has been wet prior to play, however if in doubt it is better to water the courts without creating undue puddling. Throughout winter it is unlikely that courts will require watering although discretion is needed when there is unseasonably warm and dry weather. Players who do not comply will be asked to stop play and immediately water the courts.

BAGGING COURTS

Courts must be fully bagged at the completion of play, and players must ensure that the court is bagged fence to fence and not just between the lines. On hot dusty days, the courts should be lightly watered before bagging to ensure that the en tout cas does not blow away as dust. Committee members will ask players to return and bag the courts if they are caught not complying.

SHOES

Only approved flat-soled tennis shoes (including herringbone or feathered) are to be worn on the courts. Ripple sole, cross trainers, jogging, running, cricket shoes or shoes with a raised heel or with studs that cause damage to the courts are not permitted.
