Message from the President

My name is Kylie Bishop, and I am honoured to introduce myself as the new President of Greythorn Park Tennis Club. It's a privilege to take on this role in a community with such a strong spirit and shared love for tennis.

Other members of your newly elected volunteer Committee are Glenn Sharp (Vice President), Andrew Wall (Treasurer), Helen Boer (Secretary), Kay Morris (who looks after our membership), Andrew Poulton (who looks after our maintenance), Joshua Coley, Mark Curry, Stephen  Dowling and Brian O'Keefe. Thank you to the Committee members for volunteering your time to ensure GPTC runs smoothly, so all members can enjoy the game we love to play.

I'd like to thank Mark Curry for his dedication and leadership over his 8 years as President. I look forward to building on the great work already in place and continuing to make this club a welcoming, vibrant, and competitive space for players of all levels.

My vision as President is to support our members and foster an inclusive and fun environment. Whether you're here to compete, improve your game, or simply enjoy the sport with friends, the Committee's goal is to ensure everyone feels valued, included and engaged.

I'm excited to connect with all of you and share some important Committee updates every few months as part of a broader effort to keep our members informed, engaged, and inspired.

Firstly, the Committee is proud to announce that GPTC has been awarded Bronze Level Accreditation for the Boroondara Sports Accreditation Program 2025-2026. To put this into context for you, GPTC is one of 8 tennis clubs to have achieved bronze accreditation. There are 21 tennis clubs in the City of Boroondara. No tennis club is yet to achieve silver or gold accreditation, so that certainly gives up something to strive to achieve.

We have a new TV in the club house! Our last TV unfortunately was stolen. Thanks to a very kind donation, we now have a new one ready to watch the footy at supper! It's a timely reminder to all members to make sure doors and gates are locked before leaving the club, including the sliding doors on the balcony.

Earlier this year, we had the manufacturers of our court surface, ASTE come out to assess the state of our (synthetic clay) courts. ASTE found our courts to be in excellent condition, well groomed, with appropriate levels of sand. Please ensure to remove tree debris and bag the courts after each match to keep the condition of our courts of a high standard.

Keep a look out for some new things happening around the club such as new signage, club merch/uniforms, more 'News' on the website, and some exciting social events.

Thank you to everyone who continues to make this club such a special place. If you are considering joining our Committee or would like to make contact about another matter, please email the club at greythornparktc.org.au@gmail.com.

I look forward to seeing you out on court soon.

Kind regards,

Kylie Bishop

President
