Junior and Adult Competitions

Junior Teams

When: Saturday or Sunday Mornings

Glen Huntly Tennis Club invites players under 18 to join our Junior teams. Whether you're just starting or already experienced, we welcome you to be part of our existing teams or, if there’s interest, form a new team.

  • Seasons:

    • February–June

    • July–December (excluding school holidays and public holiday weekends)

  • Match Timing:

    • Start between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, running for about 2 hours.

Competitions We Participate In:

  • Moorabbin & District Junior Tennis (Saturday mornings)
  • Bayside Regional Tennis Association (Sunday mornings)

How to Join:

  • Membership: All competition players must be members of the club.
  • Assessment: After your membership is approved, contact our club coach, Phil Mattei, for an introductory session to assess your skill level and find the best team fit.

FAQs for Junior Competitions:

  • Am I ready to play in a team? If you can serve with 50% accuracy and return the ball, you’re ready!
  • Do I need to know the rules? No, teammates will guide you.
  • What equipment do I need? A tennis racquet and appropriate tennis attire, including proper shoes.
  • Team Structure: Teams typically consist of 4–6 players, with 4–6 participating in each match.
  • Match Format:
    • Moorabbin: Singles and doubles, with tie-breaks at 6-all in higher sections.
    • Bayside: 6-game sets, with tie-breaks at 6-all.
  • Practice: Practice is optional, but Sunday Social Tennis is a great informal practice opportunity.

Adult [Senior] Competitions

Saturday Afternoon Competition

  • What: Mixed Doubles and Men’s Singles/Doubles
  • When: Saturdays, 1:00 PM onwards
  • Seasons:
    • Winter: May–August
    • Summer: October–March

Tuesday Evening Competition

  • What: Competitive tennis matches
  • When: Tuesdays, 7:00 PM–10:00 PM
