Summary

As our facilities are closed there is clearly no tennis play currently possible.  We are constantly reviewing the available information and medical advice in conjunction with the Nillumbik Shire Council and Tennis Victoria.  We will follow the expert advice and open when it's safe to do so.

Our major project - New Courts - is continuing, with the first site visit occuring yesterday, 14th April 2020.  Onsite were representatives from the Council, the design consultant, Tennis Victoria (Facilities) and the club.  The aim was to consider a few issues relating to the draft concept plan, relating to power requirements and pathways.

Tennis Associations

All of the tennis associations we participate in have suspended competition play until further notice.  

NEJTA - Saturday morning boys, girls, and mixed

NENTG - Tuesday night mens, Wednesday night ladies

HDTA - Tuesday morning ladies

MMTA - Thursday afternoon mixed

DVTA - Monday night mixed, Thursday morning ladies, Thursday night mens, Friday night juniors

Nillumbik Shire Council

All Council-owned sporting facilities, including the Eltham Tennis Club are still closed.

Tennis Victoria

On the 26th of March Tennis Victoria published a statement regarding the state of tennis play in Victoria.  You can find the full statement here.  Main points;

"With the continued escalation of social isolation measures in Victoria and following consultation with the tennis community and Government, Tennis Victoria is recommending that as soon as is practically possible for your club or coaching business:

• All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one on one coaching, until further notice
• All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice
• All tennis clubs and centres close until further notice

....

We are exploring all appropriate options for resuming tennis in a safe way when health officials deem it appropriate."

On the 14th of April they published this follow-up statement;

"On April 13th, 2020 the State of Emergency in Victoria was extended to May 11th, 2020.

Tennis Victoria has reviewed all Government guidance in relation to tennis for this extended State of Emergency period.  For now, our recommendations of March 26th, 2020 remain in place."
