Does your child dream of being the next Ash Barty, Rafa Nadal, or Federer? Have them come and try tennis at Dover Square! Tennis is a non-contact sport that is very fun and safe - and it's a sport that they can play for many decades, even in retirement!

At Dover, we run Hot Shots tennis programs during every school term, catering for all playing abilities with children aged 4-12 (inclusive). Children learn to play on modified courts with specialised equipment that makes learning easier, and more fun to progress.

We use lighter tennis racquets, lower nets, and progressive stages of different coloured tennis balls (red, orange, and green balls). These special balls are softer and don’t bounce as high or hard as standard yellow tennis balls - this makes them easier for beginners to chase down and hit.

Our hot shots junior tennis program develops kids both mentally and physically. A child’s early years are when fine motor skills are developed - tennis is amazing for developing hand-eye coordination, speed, strength, and agility. We will help your child develop their social and problem-solving skills while playing in a team, and as individuals. They will also learn how to cope with wins and losses fairly as they progress to match play.

All coaches, assistants, and volunteers running Tennis Hot Shots at Dover Square Tennis Club have a current valid Working With Children (WWCC), and Police Check.
