Competitions

Devon Meadows Tennis Club is currently looking for players interested in joining our social competitions. We have positions available in the following formats:

  • Saturday Afternoons – Open Doubles or Open Triples

  • Monday Nights – Open Doubles

  • Tuesday Nights – Open Doubles or Open Triples

WDTA currently offers –

  • a doubles comp on Monday nights, and
  • two doubles comps and four triples comps on Tuesday nights.

For the doubles comps:

  • four players are required per match, with each player playing three sets of doubles comprising one set with each of their teammates.
  • each set is first to 6 games, with a normal tie-breaker at 6 games all or a team winning 7-5 or 5-7 if the score gets to 6-5 or 5-6.
  • play doesn’t start until 7.30 p.m. (so a player doesn’t have to rush to get to the courts by 7 p.m.) and it’s compulsory for the home team to have two courts available for their matches.
  • cost per player is $8 for each match that they play.
  • home team is to provide a can of 4 new balls and scorecard, and is to enter the score into Club Zone by the two days’ deadline for home & away matches (one day for finals matches).

 

For the triples comps:

  • three players are required per match, with each player playing two sets of doubles comprising one set with each of their teammates and one set of singles.
  • four players are allowed to play for a team in all matches (home & away and finals) during the season, in the playing order stipulated on the scorecard (this is a very popular option).
  • each set is first to 6 games, with a normal tie-breaker at 6 games all or a team winning 7-5 or 5-7 if the score gets to 6-5 or 5-6.
  • play doesn’t start until 7.30 p.m. (so a player doesn’t have to rush to get to the courts by 7 p.m.) and it’s compulsory for the home team to have two courts available for their matches.
  • cost per player is $10 for each match that they play.
  • home team is to provide a can of 4 new balls and scorecard, and is to enter the score into Club Zone by the two days’ deadline for home & away matches (one day for finals matches).
