Safeguarding Children Policy

Clifton Springs Tennis Club is committed to the safety and well being of every child who participates in our activities, programs, events or services. We fully embrace and support the Tennis Australia Member Protection Policy.

Our Club has developed Safeguarding Children Guidelines which are specific to our Club and are shown below. These can be read in conjunction with the Tennis Australia Safeguarding Children Guidelines.

We have appointed Claire Oddo as our Safeguarding Officer. Claire can be contacted on 0419 882 324 or lucasoddo@bigpond.com. You should contact Claire if you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of any members including yourself.

The following guidelines are specific requirements applicable to the Clifton Springs Tennis Club and should be read in conjunction with the Tennis Australia Safeguarding Children Policy and Guidelines:

  • The club ensures that all club events involving children are monitored by at least one club member with a current Working With Children Check or by the parents/guardians of the children.
  • The Club does not provide transport to matches that are played at other tennis clubs. Parents need to make reliable and safe arrangements to get their children to and from away venues and to supervise them at all times.
  • The Tennis Club toilets are for use by Club members and visiting players  (other members of the public should use the adjacent public toilet). All the cubicles are provided with easy to use door bolts and it is recommended that these are used by patrons of all ages. Parents or guardians may accompany children into either the men’s or ladies toilets.
  • The showers are for the use of adult members or visitors. Players under the age of 18 may only use them if supervised by a parent or guardian.
  • Only adult members of the Club should enter the storeroom. Visitors and junior members should not enter the store.
  • It is the responsibility of parents to supervise children they bring to the Club who are not involved in tennis matches or coaching. Parents need to make arrangements to supervise non-playing children whilst the parents are on court.
